A 'match move' is an action in which you anaylise the movement of a hand-held (or moving camera) shot in order to 'attach' an artificial element to it. This is very frequently and routinely carried out in post production for a variety of reasons: inserting objects into a scene, screen replacement, removal of mistakes, etc. In this example, we will be replacing the original sky in the footage. 00:11 - match move workflow: 00:38 - Step 1: place backplate and 'element' onto timeline 01:24 - Step 2: if needed, use qualifier/window to generate transparency and feed the key data into the alpha output node 02:05 - Step 3: place the element where you would like it to be in the video; clean up transparency selection and apply grade, if needed 02:54 - Step 4: if the element is a video, skip to step 4; if the element is a still image, return to the Edit Page and turn it into a compound clip first 03:05 - Step 5: in 'Stabilizer' mode of Tracker, track movement of footage 03:22 - Step 6: in option menu select 'copy track data' 03:28 - Step 7: select element and also in option menu click 'paste track data' 03:36 - Step 8: set 'strong' value to -100 (or -96 for some paralax) and click stabilise 04:03 - if necessary, make final adjustments to composite 04:30 - optional: to grade the layers as a single piece of media, go back to the Edit Page and turn them into a single Compound Clip --- Narrated and edited by Daria Fissoun Materials from Anti-Social (2015) Director: Reg Traviss DOP: Bryan Loftus Producer: Mouktar Mohammed RST Pictures Recorded at SAE Institute London (http://www.sae.edu/) Screen capture software is CamStudio by RenderSoft (http://camstudio.org/) Intro and outro by Kevin MacLeod (http://incompetech.com/)
