A ride on the Red Rattlers; Showgrounds - Flinders Street on the Tait EMU

On the 6th August 2023 Steamrail Victoria ran shuttles to the Showgrounds to take passengers to the Australian Model Railway Association's annual model railway exhibition. The shuttles were operated with the preserved Tait electric multiple units, which were constructed between 1910 - 1952 for the Victorian Railways. The shuttles were operated by carriages 317M-341T-230D-208T-381M, with the shuttles being the first time the preserved Tait train has operated with a five-car set since re-entering service last year. After visiting the exhibition we take a ride on the Tait from the Showgrounds to Flinders Street, travelling along the Flemington Racecoure line to the junction with the Craigieburn Line at Newmarket. We then travel along the Craigieburn Line through Kensington and the junctions around North Melbourne, before heading through Southern Cross and arriving at Flinders Street, for a trip just under 15 minutes.
