Register to upcoming events everythingals.org/events Participate in our ALS Research everythingals.org/research Symptomatic and Pre-Symptomatic Biomarkers for ALS Therapy Development with Dr. Michael Benatar from University of Miami. Dr. Michael Benatar is the Walter Bradley Chair in ALS Research; Executive Director of the ALS Center; Chief of Neuromuscular Division; and Vice Chair for Clinical & Translational Research in the Department of Neurology at the University of Miami. Dr. Benatar leads the Pre-Symptomatic Familial ALS study, the CReATe Consortium which focuses on therapy development for ALS. He has also led both phases 2 & 3 in ALS clinical trials. Dr. Benatar is known internationally for his pioneering work in defining the field of pre-symptomatic ALS, including discovery of the first biomarker of pre-symptomatic disease that has been critical to the design and initiation of the first pre-symptomatic ALS trial. Dr. Benatar has also been a thought-leader in challenging existing paradigms for pre-clinical therapeutic studies; shaping how we use biomarkers for therapy development. He is passionate that all ALS patients have opportunities to participate in and contribute to research so he has integrated research and clinical care at the University of Miami. He co-developed the ALS Toolkit in the electronic health record as an instrument to facilitate collection of research-quality data at the point of clinical care.
