Hello neighbors, it's Brad here from etrailer, and today we are taking a look and installing the Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver on a 2024 Kia Seltos. Now, adding a hitch to any vehicle is a great addition, but on a small SUV like this, it's really handy to be able to take your bikes or a cargo carrier along on your adventures or even tow a small trailer. The Draw-Tite is gonna be a really great option because it's a hidden cross tube, and there's a few other features that I'd like to point out. I'm also gonna walk you through the installation a little bit later in this video. Let's take a closer look at the hitch. On a lot of smaller SUVs and smaller vehicles, in general, it's really tough to find a two-inch by two-inch receiver tube opening. An inch and a quarters are fine, but you're gonna be really limited when it comes to accessories that you can load up into your hitch. So the fact that this one is a two-inch by two-inch receiver tube opening makes it a really great choice because you're gonna have tons of options available as this is kind of the standard size for most trailer hitch receivers. Now, any accessory that you load in, you're gonna be using a 5/8 pin and clip to keep that in place, and that is not included with the hitch. A lot of times when you purchase accessories, they'll have that pin and clip included. And if you plan on leaving your accessories on, maybe a bike rack, for the entire season or you're traveling to a city you're not sure of on vacation, you can put a locking pin and clip in place and that becomes a really good deterrent for anyone walking by. They can't just take out that pin and clip and take those accessories with them. Your old style safety chain loops are gonna be super easy to hook up your safety chains, whether it be a standard S clip or even a larger clevis style, that's gonna go on with no issue. And if you do plan on pulling a trailer, you're gonna want to adhere to the weight capacities, not only of the hitch, but also what the vehicle's rated to tow. So first take a look at the vehicle's owner's manual and see what it's rated for and then you can compare that with the hitch numbers and take the lowest number. That way you're not overloading anything and you stay safe. Now, this one is rated like a class 1 hitch. You do get that two-inch by two-inch, which is nice, but capacity wise, it's still fairly low. This is not a vehicle that you're really gonna be towing a big trailer with, but you could still pull a kayak trailer or a small utility trailer. The gross trailer rating is 2,000 pounds. That's gonna be the limit and that's gonna be the weight of the trailer plus the accessories loaded onto it. Now, your tongue weight rating is 300 pounds, which is really nice. Generally, the class 1's are gonna be 200, so 300 pounds really opens it up. You could probably get a four-bike bike rack on here, depending on how heavy those bikes are, but, you know, you have that option. And a cargo carrier on vacation, you should be able to load up pretty easily. But again, you want to check the vehicle's owner's manual and then compare all of that and just make sure you're not overloading it. Some accessories like cargo carriers and bike racks can stow in a vertical position, which is really nice. It shortens the length of the vehicle and you can keep the accessory on without having to remove it. Folding it up does have some drawbacks and part of that is sometimes they don't work with vehicles just because of how far the fascia will stood out. So on ours today, from the center of our hitch pin hole to the outside part of our fascia, it's coming in at four inches. So I really don't worry too much. And if you wanna see how something interacts with your Seltos, you can take a look at some of our products and we'll have test fits on a vehicle similar to this so you can really get an idea of how it's gonna interact. But with those folded up, I will point out it's probably gonna block your rear view camera and your license plate. So just keep that in mind when you have those stowed, and you probably won't be able to open up the rear hatch without folding those down, but minor things in the grand scheme. Our ground clearance on our hitch today is relatively low. From the top of the receiver tube opening to the ground, it's coming in right at about 12 inches,
