The established film-making duo, the choreographer Iztok Kovač and film director Sašo Podgoršek, are preparing their new dance film in the production of EN-KNAP, and featuring dance company EnKnapGroup. The film with the working title 'Deepinsiders' represents the peak of EN-KNAP's film production, which to date includes five dance films and six documentaries. Thematically the new film will round up EN-KNAP's 15 years of reflection on an industrial era that marked the mining town of Trbovlje. An uncertain future awaits the industrial and mining facilities that have dominated over the town and transformed it for over 150 years, and which have been captured on EN-KNAP's films, as they face an imminent demolition. In Kovač's homage to his hometown, the film follows the international dance company EnKnapGroup, the only permanent contemporary dance ensemble in Slovenia, as they face the mining facilities for the ultimate time before disappearing forever from the collective conscious. The dancers part with them in a dignified way. For the last time they fill them up with their own vitality of life. The arduous toil of their forefathers is transposed by EN-KNAP's refined dance expression, which is solidified with the help of the English, Swedish, Hungarian, Croatian and Slovenian dancers. Because of the looming demolition of these objects, the film crew was forced to unexpectedly expedite the film shooting. While the preparations on locations have been underway since April 2012, the actual shooting is planned from 2 to 5 June 2012. The fillm will thematically complete 20-years of EN-KNAP Productions, which will be celebrated in June 2013 with several days of an international programme taking place in Španski Borci Cultural Centre, which EN-KNAP administers. A DVD collection of the five dance films and a catalogue will be published at the occasion. Award-winning EN-KNAP dance films, among which probably best known are Vertigo Bird and Dom Svobode, have left an indelible mark on the Slovenian and European contemporary dance landscape. Without exception they are filmed on locations in Trbovlje, where the merciless, elemental working and mining environment from Kovač's youth is intertwined with his experience of European metropolises, and as such offers an intoxicating, vertiginous clash of two opposing worlds. The internationally renowned production company, founded in 1993 by Iztok Kovač, has introduced and established its trademark aesthetics inside the European space, attracting an array of acclaimed co-producers and producing some of the most acclaimed contemporary dance pieces in recent history. Since its inception, EN-KNAP has produced over 60 dance performances, 5 dance films, 6 documentaries and 18 other projects, for which it received over 20 international and domestic prizes. It has shown its work, which has been supported by 50 international co-producers, on over 400 guest appearances in over 30 countries across the world. Music in the video: Damir Avdić
