Parysatis’s home is a perfect blend of Mediterranean, Provençal, and bourgeois marseillais influences. The space features white walls, red floor tiles, natural materials, and a calming color palette of soft blues and whites. The home embraces a slow and intentional approach to decor, focusing on second-hand furniture, thrifted finds, and meaningful pieces. Parysatis believes in working with a home’s history rather than altering it completely, ensuring that the space evolves organically over time. The entrance is designed to feel like a cocoon cloud, with soft whites, natural materials, and a minimalist yet warm aesthetic. It sets the tone for the entire house—peaceful, light, and harmonious The living room showcases a stunning Persian rug, a sentimental piece from Parysatis’s husband, adding richness and depth to the space. A velour sofa, thrifted wooden furniture, and touches of blue create a warm, lived-in feel. Second-hand shopping is key to her style—she sources many of her pieces from Selency, flea markets, and vintage shops. The kitchen is a great example of how to elevate an affordable space. The couple kept their Ikea kitchen, simply painting it deep blue and adding new light fixtures to blend it seamlessly into the rest of the home’s Mediterranean aesthetic. This renovation shows how small changes can make a big impact! A highlight of the home is the winter garden, a space that perfectly embodies the Provençal lifestyle. Parysatis and her family love to have breakfast here as soon as the sun starts to shine. The surrounding garden is filled with regional plants that thrive in Marseille’s Mediterranean climate, making it a true escape into nature. Parysatis and her husband made a conscious effort not to “denature” the house—instead, they embraced its original character, using a cohesive design philosophy that respects and enhances what was already there. Parysatis’s love for second-hand furniture is especially evident in the bedroom. The space is filled with vintage finds, many sourced from Selency, flea markets, and thrift stores. She believes in taking time to decorate a home, carefully selecting pieces that fit naturally into the space rather than rushing to fill it. The red floor tiles, an original feature of the house, inspired her choice of soft blues and whites, creating a balanced and soothing atmosphere. In the garden, there’s a separate guest house called Abi Home, a private retreat designed for friends, family, and guests. The space offers visitors a chance to experience authentic Mediterranean living. With its white walls, natural materials, and abundant light, the guest house maintains the same coherence and harmony as the main home, making it a seamless extension of Parysatis’s vision. One of the most inspiring aspects of Parysatis’s approach is her belief that a home is not just a place to live—it’s a reflection of who we are. She emphasizes the importance of: Taking time to decorate by finding the right pieces rather than rushing the process, Second-hand and vintage shopping, Respecting the home’s history, Creating balance using a mix of colors, textures, and materials to create harmony. A huge thank you to Parysatis for welcoming us into their home. I’m Abra, and this has been Human Made Homes.
