IS UMAHI CHANGING THE SOUTHEAST? SOUTHEAST PROJECTS FINALLY PART 2 Several major infrastructure projects are currently ongoing across Southeast Nigeria under the supervision of David Nweze Umahi, the Minister of Works in the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In this video, we highlight some of the ongoing road and bridge developments across the region as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda. Projects featured include: • The Ndibe Beach Bridge in Afikpo linking Ebonyi State and Cross River State • The Abakaliki–Afikpo Road reconstruction • The Onueke Flyover project in Abakaliki • Ongoing work on the Enugu–Abakaliki Expressway connecting Enugu State and Ebonyi. Recent videos circulating online show David Umahi personally supervising contractors and inspecting the progress of these projects, a style that many observers say helps keep contractors accountable. However, Nigerians online also have mixed reactions. While some people praise the progress of infrastructure in the region, others have jokingly suggested that the heavy use of concrete roads may even be contributing to the recent increase in cement prices.
