Please subscribe TOP OLD COIN HISTORY thank you This is a U.S. Native American $1 Coin, part of the Native American Dollar Coin Program that began in 2009. The reverse design depicted here is known as the “Three Sisters Agriculture” (issued in 2009). It shows a Native American woman planting seeds in a field of corn, beans, and squash—crops that were staples of Native American agriculture and known collectively as the “Three Sisters.” The coin’s inscription reads UNITED STATES OF AMERICA with the denomination $1 at the bottom. The obverse of this coin features Sacagawea, the Shoshone woman who assisted the Lewis and Clark Expedition. While the Presidential Dollar series honored presidents such as William Henry Harrison, the Native American Dollar series honors Native culture and history. This coin is made primarily of a copper core with a manganese-brass cladding, giving it a golden color. It was minted to highlight the rich contributions of Native Americans to the growth of the United States.
