DOWNLOAD THE MUSIC HERE: http://l1consolable.bandcamp.com/albu... This film was inspired by some trainings I had with Phil Walliser and Lukas Rose last spring. They decided to bring this little Spiderman ball everywhere we went, and we invented different games with it on every training. Each one, on his turn, had to invent a game with the ball that everyone including him would have to do. The games had to be more and more difficult each time. This way, we worked while we played, and had fun while challenging ourselves. I really loved these games as they challenged at the same time our imagination and creativity (we had to constantly invent new games, original and harder each time), our technical skills (be able to include the ball and throw/catch it while doing parkour techniques and jumps), our physical strenght (grabbing a wall with one hand, for example, is much harder, as well as doing a climb-up with a ball is one of your hands), our focus (we had to focus on the obstacle and the technique, and at the same time on catching or throwing the ball), our stamina (we sometimes had to do these little challenges until we succeeded, whatever the time it took), our perception of timing (we had to divide the time while jumping to separate each step and figure out when to look at the ball, and when to look at the obstacle). So, I decided to make a film in memory of these games. It made me re-work on these and share it with my friend Anthony. It was a hard training: we sometimes succeeded on first time, but most of the time had to repeat things a lot until making them properly. I reapeated so much armjumps and stuff that I killed my new pair of Kalenji in one week! I tried to push the games further than what we did on last summer with Phil and Lukas, and tried to really challenge myself doing most parkour basic techniques and some little combinations as well while catching the ball. Some were quite easy, some were a lot harder. Some were not so hard to do, but quite scary: as an example, to do the precision jump in the end of the video I looked to the wall I was going to before jumping, and then once landing on it, but during the whole jump I had to look to the ball on the left, which was pretty scary to me, and needed a precise appreciation of the distance that separates me from the wall as well as the power I had to put in the jump. Another difficult part was the timing and synchronisation between the throw and the catch, especially when we had to do little combinations like throw-catch-re-throw-catch-re-throw-catch, all that while jumping. We needed a precise timing and an ability to adjust to the other's little mistakes. Making this video didn't take us so much time, but it still made me work a lot, both on technique, strenght, focus, and stamina. And, last but not least, it also made us have a lot of fun! I keep believing that the only limit in training methods like anywhere else is our imagination -or our ability to use it-. Thanks, once again, to Phil and Lukas for inspiring me this idea while we trained together some monthes ago. Thanks, once again, to Anthony Arbona for his permanent participation and help, his incredible throws, and his unlimited patience. Thanks to Spiderman for turning himself into a ball so we could play with it. Naïm L'1consolable "Elle est où la baballe?"
