Kyiv calls first day of Abu Dhabi peace talks “productive” | Ukraine Brief

The second round of trilateral peace talks between Ukraine, Russia, and the United States began today in Abu Dhabi, with Kyiv describing the first day as substantive and productive. Ukraine’s foreign ministry spokesperson says the discussions of this meeting are focused on military matters, stressing that Ukraine's position on Donbas and the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant remains unchanged. Despite the talks, Russian forces have continued mass attacks on Ukrainian civilians, including the use of cluster munitions and strike drones in the Ukrainian-controlled Donetsk region. In the Zaporizhzhia region, local authorities are urging residents to evacuate as intensified shelling leaves villages destroyed and families fleeing. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s state energy company Naftogaz says it has received its first shipment of U.S. liquified natural gas this year, delivered via Poland, in a move aimed at strengthening the country’s energy security.
