It is caused mainly by trauma to the lip which leads to accumulation of saliva or mucus in the lip. Treatment options include cryotherapy, laser, surgical removal. If adequate and complete surgical excision is not achieved they tend to recur. Here is a technique in which mucocele is removed by Radiofrequency Ablation. Procedure: Ablate the superficial mucosa. Gently squeeze the mucocele out of the opening with mild pressure. Separate the lesion with Radiofrequency and coagulate the base. No suturing required.
