The timestamps for each stage can be found at the bottom of the video description box. – GAME OVERVIEW – Mad Max for the Nintendo Entertainment System is a hybrid of an overhead action-adventure video game -and a vehicular combat racer. The game was developed by Gray Matter with Eastridge Technology and published by Mindscape. It was released in North America in July 1990. • Mad Max is based on the 1981 feature film Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior and draws inspiration from the 1988 home computer game Road Raider, renamed Motor Massacre for its North American release. ◦ Players take on the role of Max Rockatansky and drive the Pursuit Special through post-apocalyptic wastelands, fighting off gangs along the way. • In Mad Max, there are two types of driving stages: the nonlinear "Road War" segment and the more structured "Arena" stage. ◦ To access the arenas, players must explore the derelict mine shafts on foot during the Road War stages and collect enough supplies. They can then trade these resources at the service station for an arena pass. ◦ Progression in the arena depends on destroying all enemy vehicles, which results in returning to the Road War stage. ◦ After the third arena, Lord Humungus appears for a final one-on-one crossbow battle. • While developing the sequel, Mindscape lost the licensing rights to Mad Max, so they changed the title to Outlander. Nevertheless, it retains much of the original's atmosphere and gameplay. ◦ Avalanche Studios developed an unrelated Mad Max video game (2015) for the Microsoft Xbox One (XB1), Sony PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PC.
