TOR missile system (Tor-M1 and Tor-M2)

Self-propelled missile system 9K331 (Tor-M1) is designed to effectively protect troops and military installations from present and future air attack weapons, primarily high-precision weapons, as well as aircraft, helicopters, laser, TV or thermal guided bombs and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). It is a modernized 9K330 complex (Tor). The official tests started in 1983-84. In 1988, complex 9K331 was accepted into the service. The Tor-M1 short-range mobile all-weather complex provides air defense for troops in mobile combat forms and on the march, as well as areas of troops concentrations, protecting the most critical military objects such as, but not limited, command posts, communication centers, radio equipment, bridges, airfields, just to name few. The Tor-M1 air defense system differs from the previous ones in that all of its combat equipment, communications, and weapons are located on the same tracked chassis (Fig. 1-5) and is a compact, functionally complete and technically advanced tactical unit - a combat vehicle, capable of independently or as part of an air defense system to carry out a combat mission during a modern battle without additional refueling and loading, and at the same time, all-day combat duty and all-day combat duty and escort of troops in battle or on the march.
