There was no time for any stops, but I figured if I was in southern California, I may as well go to L.A. and finally visit the old Cecil. Though it was not the original sign, it is very disappointing that they painted over the iconic sign that had been there since at least the 1940's! Driving along 7th street, taking a right on Main. For those who don't know, this hotel has a lot of dark history, such as being the hideout for the satanic serial killer Richard Ramirez and being the location of the tragic and still mysterious death of Elisa Lam, who was found dead inside a rooftop water tank in early 2013.
