He was referred to as “The Bikini Killer” because of "his snake-like abilities to elude identification by police and due to the clothing worn by several of his victims. Sobhraj is currently being held in prison in Nepal. However, that may likely change very soon. Sobhraj, who has been held in the central jail for 19 years on a murder charge, has submitted a habeas corpus petition through his lawyer. He claimed to have completed his sentence in prison based on "concessions" given to older persons in Nepal. However, the government responded to Sobhraj's writ case by stating that the law does not permit an offender to be excused for being old, sick, or for any other reason, and that he would not be exempted as a foreign national. According to the government's written response, while prison sentences can be reduced, they cannot be reduced in situations of rape, smuggling, or murder. What do you think of the court’s decision?
