Rite of Election

Bishop Gregory Parkes will preside at the Rite of Election, also known as the Enrollment of Names. This is a liturgical rite, usually celebrated on the first Sunday of Lent, by which the Church formally affirms the catechumen’s readiness and willingness to receive the Sacraments of initiation (i.e., baptism, confirmation, eucharist). Catechumen is the term reserved for the “unbaptized” who have been admitted into the Order of Catechumens and are spiritually preparing for the Sacraments of initiation at the Easter Vigil.
