Our second feature for Dungeon Synth Sunday is a hauntingly stark split of dungeon synth and winter ambient, between Fjældmark and Wintarslāf. In the words of Fjældmark: “The split collectively references loneliness, isolation, winter, desolation. The stark whiteness is like walking through an empty field during heavy snowfall. The tree is something we hold onto. It's life, hope, shelter. Wisdom and surety. I want to hug the shit out of that twig.” Four drifting flurries of pulsing ambience from Fjældmark are followed by a long-form 20-minute piece of melodic soundscaping from Wintarslāf. A highly appropriate album to soundtrack this time of year. Released in a 20-copy limited edition run of white cassettes, and digital downloads, available to order from the label now.
