Gerry Harvey admitted this week that strong Black Friday sales weren’t enough to arrest a slump in sales over the past five months. During the company’s annual general meeting 81 per cent of shareholders voted against Harvey Norman’s executive remuneration report. Harvey Norman’s Executive Chairman Gerry Harvey spoke with Sky News Business Reporter Edward Boyd about the “spicy” events during the AGM. “Spicy’s a good word, so AGM’s can be a bit strange from time to time over the years … today was relatively quiet and subdued,” Mr Harvey told Sky News Australia. “No fights, and fights are interesting if it makes the world go around, and I’m happy to have a fight if someone wants a fight but I’m happy to be peaceful, too.”
