I figured a small, relatively quick project would be perfect before I jump into making the kirtle (and all of those buttonholes), so I waltzed into my sewing room with the happy overconfidence of someone who underestimates how hard a project will be. Socks are hard. Feet are weird. Medieval hose are rude and full of insults, and I am so thankful Nicole, being the historical shoemaker that she is, saved my butt. This is a classic case of over-thinking a sewing project, and how that causes more problems than anything. So, word of advice to all sewers - beginner to experienced - don't overthink it.
