A 26 year old young lady doctor for Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India, ended her life because her family could not afford the huge dowry her boyfriend doctor Ruvaise and family demanded. Both were doctors and PG students. Dr. Shahna was in second year of her surgery MD at the Trivandrum Medical College. This is another victim of illegal dowry system in India. This reiterates the need for better mental health awareness and timely treatment to prevent this type of suicides. Dr. Shahna was a beautiful young doctor, who was going to help the much needed Indian population.
