Mattel Teen Trends Doll, Kianna, Discontinued Doll Line, Large Barbie Style Teenager 2005

I won't take any credit for finding this doll line. I first saw her on JaydollsUK and fell in love! This is a larger style doll with a Barbie-like Teen face. Kianna is meant to be about punk styles and loves rock. Too be honest, her looks is very ho-hum basic teenager going out with her friends look but I imagine they had to tone down her punk styles for mum & dad buyers. If Mattel had taken the leap to funk them up a bit more they would have entered the Bratz styles (and possible had a winner. If LOL dolls have anything to prove, its that risky styles attract buyers). This is a big flaw Mattel seems reluctant to fix, move with the times or get left behind. Their very popular line Monster High was a great step ahead for them. Teen Trends dolls are a Mattel line released with 4 dolls, Gabby, Deondra, Courtney, and Kianna. Rayna was meant to be released but never made it to shelves. These are a larger playstyle doll which I show by putting a Barbie next to her. It is a beautiful doll. I don't think they were marketed well as myself and a few other doll collectors did not even know they existed. I wonder if they were a limited region release, much like Wild Style dolls. Tho America is good testing grounds for sale, worldwide interest promotes demand and collectibility. I can only guess their sales were not satifactory to be carried on. I am impressed she is a strung doll. I was not expecting that. Her hair product definitely needs to be washed out or expect to be doing a bit of cleaning if you get her later on (like me). The product melted and created a god-awful smell on her plastic and clothing. Basic cleaning removed it, thank goodness.
