Merry Christmas everyone! As usual, for a Christmas present to myself I take the time out to make a really good music video. It’s been over 6 months since my last Fairy Tail video so it’s high time I make another one. Since I haven’t seen much of Volume 3 yet (episodes 49-72) I am left with 3 more theme songs to choose from. Because this is Christmas I wanted to do a really good one so I decided to do one of my other 2 favorite stories, the Phantom Lord arc or the Fighting Festival arc. I definitely liked the Phantom Lord arc more, but the Fighting Festival arc is my third favorite and I had seen it more recently. I ended up choosing this one for a very important reason, and that is because it had a much better song for it. As I said before, I love how Fairy Tail changes its opening and ending songs every 12 episodes or so. I wasn’t too fond of the first theme, so when I heard Sense of Wonder in episode 13 it was a welcome relief. I immediately thought it was a huge upgrade from Snow Fairy and until Ft., it was my favorite Fairy Tail theme. I’ve only properly listened to the first 5 openings and closings (I will properly listen to the others as I see more of the episodes they are for) and it is definitely my second favorite opening. It would probably be one of my top 12 anime openings if it weren’t for Ft. (when I do my top 12 anime theme songs I will only do 1 per franchise). I also picked this arc because this is where Fairy Tail really comes into its own. The Galuna Island arc was great, but almost everything after it (aside from the body-swapping episode and the one where Team Natsu works in a play) was even better. This arc in particular captures what I feel is the true essence of Fairy Tail; epic battles with memorably quirky villains, superbly timed comedy, and some strong emotional moments (like when Elfman faced his inner demons), make this the best Shonen series ever for me. This video was made using Windows Live Moviemaker. The footage and the song came from my official DVD and CD collections. I do not own any part of Fairy Tail. The rights belong to Hiro Mashima and A-1 pictures.
