Making a Custom Knife from an Old File | DIY Forged Knife Project ‎ ‎In this project I recycled an old used metal file and transformed it into a strong and beautiful handmade knife. ‎ ‎First I heated the old file in fire until the steel became workable. After that I forged and shaped the blade into the desired knife design. Once the basic shape was complete I refined the blade by grinding and smoothing it to achieve a clean profile and sharp cutting edge. ‎ ‎For the handle I selected solid wood to give it a strong and comfortable grip. I drilled holes into both the blade tang and the wooden handle scales. Then I used brass pins to securely fasten the handle to the blade. After fitting everything together I sanded and finished the handle to create a smooth ergonomic grip. ‎ ‎Since metal files are made from high carbon steel the final knife is strong durable and capable of holding a sharp edge for a long time. ‎ ‎This project is a great example of metal recycling and traditional knife-making craftsmanship.
