Opened in 2011, Trails of Africa is a 14 acre safari through the savannas and jungles of Africa! The exhibit was planned to position the zoo as a leader in the care and breeding of threatened African elephants, specifically the veterinary study of bachelor herds, uncommon in zoos. Undoubtedly, this African adventure remains one of the most progressive projects to date! The zoo took the old pachyderm building, along with two hoofstock yards and a grotto, and combined them into a modernized elephant exhibit! However, the elephants aren't alone! There's lions, rhinos, zebras, giraffes and even DUIKERS!
