H2nano, a startup spun out of research from the University of Waterloo about a decade ago, is focused on innovative water treatment solutions using advances in nanotechnology and materials science. They have developed three key technologies: Solar Pass, which uses sunlight to drive advanced oxidation processes for water treatment; a method to treat hazardous emissions from water before atmospheric release; and the Oasis technology, which accelerates natural evaporation using sunlight. Their flagship product, Solar Pass, is a passive, off-grid system ideal for remote locations, using sunlight to generate strong oxidants from water, facilitating the degradation of organics and mineral contaminants without external energy or chemicals.
