I would & still do bracket this choon in with the New Romantic fad, fashion, era & genre Unbelievably "Eye To Eye" & their singles & Album releases weren't that successful in the grand scheme of things i.e. They deserved to have had much more success than what they actually achieved in my opinion ! Eye To Eye were a duo comprising of Julian Marshall, keyboard player coming from UK, and Deborah Berg a female vocalist & dancer coming from Seattle, USA. Julian Marshall had been in another duo with female singer Kit Hain" in late 70's, called Marshall Hain which released the album "Free Ride" in UK , the same album was released in USA & titled as " Dancing In The City " The single of the same name became a massive hit on both sides of the Atlantic in 1978 "Eye To Eye" produced by Rhet Davies Who Colaborated With Many a Top Stars ... Brian Eno , Roxy Music , bryan Ferry , Dire Straits The B-52's to name but a few ( The Son Of Welsh Trumpet Player Extraordinaire , Arranger & Conductor ) Also when Gary Katz most famously well known for his production work with Steely Dan, heard the single he instantly signed them up Warner Bros . He Then Produced their first Album 'Eye To Eye' which was released in 1982. The lead single "Nice Girls" cracked the Top 40 in the U.S. Billboard Hot100. but didn't manage to get in the all important UK top 40 were it would have gone on to greater heights if a TOTP appearance had happened or everyone taping the Top40 on a Sunday night ! A second album, Shakespeare Stole My Baby, followed in 1983, but it did not receive much label support and did not sell well.[1] Until 2002, both albums would be available only as Japanese imports on CD, but in 2002, they were both released by independent label Wounded Bird Records on one CD. In 2001, the members reunited, and in 2005 released a third album. Eye To Eye" started activity in mid 1980 by releasing their very first single Hunger Pains , Julian at a performance of the dance ensemble ' Mostly Women Moving ' , for whom Deborah Berg danced. But she had been injured so sang instead of dancing on the night of the performance ,he spoke to her after the show and a few weeks later asked her to fly to England to record with him. This track " Am I Normal ? " with the B-side " Tonight Insomnia " at the very end of 1980 or the very beginning of the year !! It was released under Automatic Records UK The sleeve cover of the single is a painting called ....Hand Maid created by the artist Philip Castle he also of the Clockwork Orange LP Sleeve fame .
