Have you already chosen your summer vacation destination in Rio de Janeiro? If yes, there's still time to reconsider. If not, you're in the right place at the right time. I'm Renato Freitas, and today I'll take you to explore the islands and beaches of Sepetiba Bay, in the Costa Verde region, often referred to as the "Caribbean of Rio." With beaches, waterfalls, Atlantic Forest, hotels, and tours (I'll show you some), it's an incredible destination, close to Rio's center. Perfect for vacations, weekends, or day trips! We’ll start in Itacuruçá, a district in Mangaratiba. From there, we'll catch a taxi boat to embark on this amazing journey. If you’re interested, come along, because I’ll show everything from the ground, the sea, and, of course, the air – with a drone! *First stop: Ilha de Itacuruçá.* A quick 5-minute boat ride gets us to Praia Grande, the island's most popular beach. Its calm waters and soft sand make it great for swimming, even for kids. During peak season, it gets busy, so plan for parking and meals – restaurants here are few and pricey. The island's mix of beach, mountain, and vegetation creates a stunning visual. We stayed at *Pousada Cantinho da Bia*, the only accommodation on Praia Grande – highly recommended! On the opposite side of the island lies *Águas Lindas*, best accessed via Ilha da Madeira in Itaguaí. It’s closer for those coming from Rio and offers a shorter, scenic 10-minute boat ride. --- *Next stop: Jaguanum Island.* About 20 minutes by boat from Itacuruçá, Jaguanum is a true paradise with untouched Atlantic Forest, waterfalls, and emerald-green waters. Ideal for fishing, hiking, or simply relaxing. We stayed at Pousada Jaguanum*, located on Praia de Pitangueiras. From there, we explored other parts of the island, which boasts 14 beaches with breathtaking scenery. Nearby, the privately owned islands *Bonita and Bonitinha are also worth mentioning. --- *Final highlights:* Pombeba, part of Restinga da Marambaia, is pristine and controlled by the military. Visitors are welcome, but camping and parties are prohibited. Lastly, we visited the lesser-known Vigia Grande and Vigia Pequena islands, havens for birds and marine life, perfect for nature lovers and divers. --- If you'd like to see more of Sepetiba Bay's hidden gems, comment "MORE" below and subscribe to be notified about the next video.
