As part of the #CosplayTutorialChallenge I created an easy tutorial on how to make the indoor pole kite that I used during my Saratoga Comic Con Fall 2024 routine. When I was doing the research for this prop, it's hard to find specifically the name you would search for this item. What I'm talking about is the "Flying Bird in The Lion King on Broadway" or the "Fish in Finding Nemo: The Musical" that you would see in Animal Kingdom. It's that bird on a string connected to a stick. I mean, how do you google that? Luckily you found me anyway and I have a simple tutorial that should only take you about $15 dollars with the following items: Fiberglass Driveway Marker Screw Eyes Barrel Swivel (w/ Interlock Snap) ¼” Ribbon (or a strong but thin rope) Kite or Airplane (or make whatever you want to fly. I'd probably also think about making a flying lantern? Or a Butterfly. Or a Dragon Superglue Optionally you can add paint to cover the driveway marker and electrical tape for a better grip. Overall hopefully this helps out with your cosplay performance/masquerade, or if you're staging a production of The Lion King or Finding Nemo: The Musical now you know a cheap way to create some whimsy.
