Total Training Time 78 hour 10 mins Look at how far Jac has come with just under 80 hours of training. Stacy demonstrates how she warms Jac up and explains why she keeps working on bending and counter bending...she wants him to MASTER it. Stacy also demonstrates how she is beginning to ride Jac one handed, including showing how she will 'ask' with the outside rein and then, if necessary, use the inside rein to 'make' it happen. Stacy doesn't expect the horse to fully grasp neck reining under pressure at this point. Stacy only uses the neck reining lightly during warm up and switches to riding two handed for the majority of her training. At 4:30 Stacy demonstrates Jac's progression in the spin and explains what she is looking for. At 8:38 Stacy shows how she begins to teach a horse to move his hip. Hip moving, combined with shoulder control, is the foundation for future maneuvers such as lead departures, lead changes and other advanced maneuvers. Stacy explains lead and what is considered a 'correct' lead. Stacy shows groundwork exercises and mounted exercises to begin teaching a horse to move his hips. Remember, as always, the 'release' is what teaches. If you ask for the hip to move but release when the horse is backing up....he will back up on that cue instead. Also, giving the horse time to think about what is happening will allow the horse to 'own' the idea. This is the story of two-year-old Jacs Electric Whiz (Jac), the last baby out of Whizards Baby Doll, better known as "Roxy". Roxy touched the hearts of horse lovers around the world when she and Stacy Westfall made history with their bareback and bridleless freestyle reining ride. The loss of Roxy in 2012 has left a void in the equine community. Although nobody can replace her, Roxy's spirit lives on, not only in our hearts, but in Jac as well. Join us as we follow Jac through weekly videos documenting his training journey from his first session to his first show and more. It is a journey filled with questions, breakthroughs, setbacks and accomplishments... and everything in between. music by Jason Shaw@audionautix.com
