The rowdy Prince Ryger, frustrated at his father, the King's, conciliatory attitude in the face of the ruthless and expansionist Magellan Empire, takes his planet-nation's mighty super robot to defend the people of the Galactic Alliance. Sentenced to death for this at the advice of his father's scheming minister, he and his allies do what they can to frustrate the Magellan's efforts while staying ahead of their own planet's forces. 1978's Space Demon Daikengo is an atypical super robot show that ditches many of the genre's cliches for a space-feudal legendry. While in certain ways more imaginative than it's contemporaries, Daikengo would be underfunded, underanimated, and perhaps undernarrated. It is the short lived Tori Pro's sole animated production and one of the least recognized robot shows of its decade. This video is a showcase and analysis of the entirety of the 26 episode series.
