The manual and the objective truth about the new HB double pedals. A pretty nice cheap drum machine and looper, able to synchronise and do quite a few things well once you finally learn how to use it. It's a horribly obtuse pedal, and stuff like clearing the looper buffer is not even mentioned in the manual. Other stuff like changing the speed while syncing is very poorly explained. Don't expect straight forward operation from this, you'll need to master it. And now for the most succinct and objective review on the HB DJ: Pros: nice sounding drums great variety in the grooves available, including metronome fun looper, holds the loop even without power versatile once you learn it quite compact for how much it does Cons: cheap build, down to the SMT construction (this not a smartphone, a computer, a modeller or a complex pedal like CBA stuff, so the only reason for SMT is cutting cost) the pedal is almost empty inside, but does not operate on batteries poorly made manual very obtuse, difficult to understand certain functions at first even with the manual, there are functions that are simply not mentioned you trade ease-of-use for size, at least at first The Verdict: Fun once you understand it. Quite versatile once you understand the functions. If you're not into experimenting and learning, you will abandon this pedal very easily. If you think the manual will tell you everything, well, it simply won't. This video will help you better understand this pedal better. And once you do understand, it will do quite a lot for how cheap it is. And word of advice: don't use it with guitar speakers: that kick drum tone should never go through guitar speakers unless you want to risk damage. Do what we did, and only use it with bass cabs and/or studio monitors. No high pass available either, nor does the tone knob solve the issue on its own. Overall, a good choice only for the most intrepid and gear-laden. At which point you might just buy something better anyways, haha! LaGrange and Titanium series cables are just what the pandas ordered for utmost signal integrity and noise free operation, every single day! They also have THE lowest capacitance we have ever seen for a guitar cable (65pf/m and 75pf/m respectively). It's simply the easiest choice to make when shopping cables: impeccable quality for reasonable prices, made in Germany, and they have short cables (1.5m and even shorter) too, with angled or straight jacks as you need. https://www.klotz-ais.com/ / klotzcables / klotzais The RIG: Ibanez EHB 1505 5 string BASS (passive mode, all stock) Nordstrand™ Custom Big Split Humbucker bridge pickup Valeton GP200LT amp and cab only amp model: Bogner XTC Red channel Vintage gain structure Harley Benton Double Jammer Presonus Studio 68c Audacity no post processing Music by Pair of Pandas, all rights reserved.
