Here I am out in the green Co Down countryside at scenic Gransha Presbyterian church. After our horrible, grey, depressing, cloudy long winter the sun is shining and the sky is blue so I'm taking the opportunity to dander round this beautiful Scrabo stone church and graveyard. The present church building dates from 1879. The congregation first formed from a minority who left Gilnahirk Prebyterian church over the question of supporting the United Irishmen 1798 rebellion. Those that disagreed with the rebellion left Gilnahirk and formed another church some few miles at Gransha. The first minister Rev James McCullough was installed in 1803. Gransha Church has grown significantly over the last 50 years with around 250-300 families associated with the church.
