And that is service, education, being positive and being helpful. I have known brothers and sisters from the Hizmet for a long time. Their practice of Islam is very middle of the road, mainstream. There is no extreme in it. No extreme to the right, no extreme to the left. It is just middle of the road practicing of Islam, its five pillars and commitment to the social justice, and uplifting human beings. And so, our world is in need of the Hizmet Movement in every culture, in every place where Muslims exist. Because it provides a good model of what in a group and an association of Muslims should look like." Imam Muhammad Musri: "Hizmet Movement does a great representation for Islam, because a lot of the movements around the Muslim world are very political, and they do many things that are un-Islamic, and they give Islam very bad image in the media. Here in America, we see many bad examples from around many countries. On the other hand, Hizmet Movement has, for many years, represented Islam beautifully by actual good work. People believe what they see. Not what they hear. When they see schools open, when they see people giving relief, when they see actual dialog, and people are coming to the homes of the members of Hizmet Movement, see them, how they live, and they respect them and love them, that is how the impression is made, and it's a lasting impression. It's not temporary, but for a long time, people will respect members of the Hizmet Movement." Andrew Harrison: "The Hizmet Movement, to me, in the States has been very good at kind of getting people educated to understand that people from Turkey or people who are Muslim, they're different from you, different from your upbringing, but they're also the same as you. And I think that's a very good and strong thing that the Hizmet Movement has done, in my opinion. I'm not an expert in Islam, but from what I have experienced and felt, the Hizmet Movement is a very positive aspect of Islam, because it's about unity, it's about people coming together. It's about education. And the media in the States can portray the exact opposite of Islam. And there are people who have done things that actually do that. There's things that have happened in the world that cause people to think negatively about Islam. But not everybody is like that. Not every Muslim is like that. And the Hizmet Movement, to me, shows Islam in a positive light." Bryan Fulwider: "Islam, of course means “peace,” as we all know, and the Gülen Movement really emphasizes that sense of relationship-building with others. That's the core and the heart of the Movement, and that's the core and heart of good Islamic practice and faith. It also encourages people to really live their faith in real ways, to stand strong in their faith and compassion and concern for others, in building bridges and friendships, in creating a better world. So I think it's a wonderful demonstration of the heart and core of Islam." Muneeb Nasir: "What the Hizmet Movement and Fethullah Gulen has done is that he has taken the values of Islam and projected it into the world. You know, because today most people when they look at Islam they think only of very dogmatic statements. They only think of Islam as being for the Arabs or for the Turkish people or for the South Asian people. They don't see it as for them. And what the Hizmet Movement has done is, they've taken the universal aspect of Islam and re-instilled it once again in the general conversation of people, that the Muslims are actually standing for some of the most important universal values that are shared by everyone."
