Get JRF Channel provides you all that is needed for CBSE NET exam preparation. It will give the strategies on how to prepare for cbse net exams, previous years' solved question papers, mock tests, Interviews with toppers, UGC NET first paper preparation strategies and what not. It will help you scale through your life successfully... Topper’s Talk Question: Tell me about your self (Name, graduation, PG, Presently what is doing? Answer. Hello, my name is Prateexit. B.com(Hons) from Narsee Monjee Institute, Mumbai, an M.A. in Public Administration from Jamia Millia Islamia. JRF in Public Administration as well as International and Area Studies. I am currently doing my M.Phil. in Planning and Development from IIT Bombay. Question: How did you prepare for 1st paper? Answer. I am of the firm belief that paper 1 is the key to crack JRF. If you manage to score around 70 or more, you have a bright chance of success. For this purpose, it is important to get hold of a good guide for paper 1 preparation. For me, it was Trueman's UGC NET/SLET General Paper I, as it is comprehensive and covers all areas. Do solve all the mock papers. Most importantly, DO NOT leave the quantitative sections in the exams, as they are sure shot success markers. People often leave this section for the fear of being weak in Maths, but these questions are very basic, and going through Paper 1 guide book will surely help you in perfecting this section. Question: How did you prepare for 2nd & 3rd paper? Answer. For Pub Ad, Laxmikanth’s Public Administration is the holy book. If you diligently go through all the chapters, it will prepare nearly 50% of paper 2/3 (do not leave the annexures at the end, they are of utmost importance). Go through ARC reports, the Constitution of India and the 3 Minnowbrooks reports, as they have questions almost every year. Laxmikanth’s Indian Polity and Indian Administration by Maheshwari also helped me. For IR, I emphasized on the previous 5-year question papers, as 10-15 % of paper 2/3 will be from it. I went through Globalization of World Politics and Andrew Heywood’s Global Politics, which helped in the theory part a lot. What helped me the most was reading up few encyclopedias on conflicts around the world for area studies which are available in most universities’ libraries. Question: Did you do mock tests, usage of e-media and note making? Ans. For mock tests in Pub Ad, I referred to the questions at the end of the Laxmikanth book, as well as mock papers in the UGC NET/SET (JRF & LS) PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION Paper II & III by Arihant publications. You can get Pub Ad notes of civil services prep classes in Delhi for ARC reports and commissions, but for theory, Laxmikanth is comprehensive. For International and Area Studies, I did not refer to any mock papers, but went through previous year papers thoroughly. I focused more on IR events post-1947 (less on theory, which was mostly repeated from last few exams), and made use of encyclopedias and books on world conflicts. REMEMBER, go through the previous 5 year papers at least 2-3 times, as a substantial number of questions are repeated each year (especially in International and Area Studies). If you read newspapers daily, things might come handy in these two subjects. Question: How many months you devoted for this and how many hours a day? Answer. Build basic knowledge for at least three months by reading materials relevant for the exam (1-3 hours), and get to war mode by one and a half months before the exam (4-6 hours). This worked for me, but might differ for others. Question: Your message for JRF aspirants? Answer.’ Have strong will power, and try concentrating, especially in the last 1-1.5 months. This paper is very objective, so be focused on facts. If you are well-focused and have the capacity to follow a routine schedule, you will surely reach your goal. Feel free to seek advice from JRF holders, and do not get demotivated if one attempt doesn’t work well. There is always a next time. Good luck and best wishes.
