The LaCrosse comes standard with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder eAssist mild hybrid system making 194 hp and 187 lb-ft of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels. The mild hybrid system replaces the alternator with a motor/generator, capable of recouping small amounts of electricity in a lithium-ion battery. The compact electric motor is used for smoother stop/start transitions. The eAssist system is EPA-rated at 25/35 city/highway. The 3.6-liter V-6 engine produces 310 hp and 268 lb-ft paired with a nine-speed automatic and is available with front-wheel drive (20/30) and all-wheel drive (20/29 for the 2018 model) models.
