"Concertmate 680" is the third single from Saajtak's album For the Makers, out June 3rd on American Dreams Records. Purchase For the Makers here: https://saajtak.bandcamp.com/album/fo... Process: The video features point clouds, or sets of 3D points, of the band which were captured using a 3D camera. These point clouds provide the basis for the band’s presence in the video, though like the way the music was composed through a digital gulf, they only exist together in a virtual space. The primary software used to create the piece was Derivative TouchDesigner (a visual programming language), used to generate the elements of the video which were then edited together. TouchDesigner enabled analysis of the audio, allowing visual effects to be connected directly with the music. This includes the motion of the stylized point clouds, and the many generative patterns in which the 3D forms reside. Bonus Info: The background visuals were processed with a circuit bent analog video console (specifically, the Vortex Decoder from Tachyons+.) This treads slightly into the domain of analog glitch art and that retro VHS aesthetic. Easter Egg: The ASCII characters that scroll on the left are a subtle music visualizer. Each character represents a different sound in the song. The kick, snare, bass, keyboard, background vocals, and lyrics are all represented in the stream of text for the duration of the song. About Simon / Polyhop’s Background: The video for Concertmate 680 was created by the saajtak’s own keyboard player Simon Alexander-Adams. Beyond the band, Simon works professionally developing interactive multimedia, specifically in the context of immersive installations and audiovisual experiences. He has been sharing consecutive daily generative art on instagram now for over three years. Simon currently works at ARTECHOUSE, creating interactive art for their experiential exhibits.
