Firework's sequel (waterfall) was not satisfying to many interested in the original level, and this level is supposed to fill that void all of us have been holding onto for the past half decade. Flashbang is obviously meant as a remake / unofficial sequel, and it works well at doing this. One thing I really miss is the original atmosphere of firework, which was a lot more put together in how intimidating it was. This feels unnecessarily intense, like it's trying too hard, where firework's intensity came naturally from the very visible difficulty and uniqueness of the gameplay, as well as the tension perfectly built up by the music. The intimidation came by itself and didn't have to be forced. Flashbang just doesn't feel the same as firework. It's hard to make a sequel to a 10/10 level but I feel like this is the one aspect that was very overlooked and leaves this blending in with a lot of other extremes. It's not ambitious enough, and nothing new is brought to the table. Apart from that though, I think the level is pretty neat. The decoration is very good, though transitions between parts feel hairy at times, and the gameplay is pretty decent and fun to watch at least. I don't know how fun it is to play as the gameplay is very simple at points and feels a bit forced for top 5. I don't know who this level is for because if I was a player weighing top 5 options to go for I would be drawn to literally any other level versus this (Acheron, Anathema, Spectre, Every End, even Andromeda) so I doubt this will have many victors if verified at that difficulty. Everything else around this has so much more aura.
