This drum lesson is about something that happens, or should happen, when a drummer is reacting to a musical event within a song. The title of the lesson obviously reflects that. Now, that reaction can be planned (i.e. you and the bass player talk about it beforehand, etc.) or spontaneous. Either way, it should be used only in direct support of other musical things happening within the song. It's also something that is super fun to work on and geek out over. This is the last in a series of lessons I've been posting about implied metric modulation. It can come in many forms, but as I've pointed out earlier, should always be used in direct support of the music.
