Yikes! Well, we started the day off knowing Zion would be a very busy place to visit so we just planned on driving through the park with our dog, Bodhi. When we initially stopped at the Visitor Center, we noticed the lines weren't as long as people said they were so we figured that we couldn't come all the way to Zion and not explore more of the national park. So, we drove back to the campground and dropped off Bodhi. On our way back into the East Entrance of the park, through the Zion-Mount Carmel Tunnel, it started raining. The run got heavier the closer we drove to the Visitor Center, so we decided to pull over and park in their oversized parking lot to wait out the rain so we could eventually hop on a shuttle. Mother Nature had other plans. Cue the flash flood. We definitely learned to be more weather aware when traveling, and not to take the forces of nature for granted. Being from the Midwest, we're used to rain and hail but down in the Southwest, it's a whole different type of rain. Luckily, we made it out safely. Unfortunately, our "Truckzilla" got the worst of it. Be careful out there and safe travels!
