The only known evidence of his presence at Abydos is an ivory tablet found nearly a century ago, on which is engraved a scorpion, the symbol of the Pharaoh. Dreyer believes that, even if his team finds it, it will probably have already been visited by looters. But no matter, archaeologists are looking more for traces of writing than for treasures. A few days ago, another team of researchers, this time American, unearthed on the same site of Abydos a boat used for the funeral rite of the Pharaoh, for the famous "passage" to the afterlife. It is a real boat, capable of sailing, thanks to which Egyptologists hope to learn more about royal funeral rites.
