As someone who has grown up abroad and suffered many identity crises, cultural identity is a topic close to Cathy's heart. Through her speech, she aims to offer her insights about social media’s influence on how we see ourselves through a cultural lens, as well as depicting her own journey of navigating the turbulent waters of culture. Catherine is a Year 11 iGCSE pupil at Harrow International School Hong Kong. Outside of being an avid musician, she is a coffee-addict and self-proclaimed Notes app poet. As the Co-President of the Pride Society, Catherine spends time researching and raising awareness for queer activism, exploring topics ranging from ‘bisexuality in the media’ to ‘fanfiction'. When she's not stressing over her assignment deadlines, you can find her gushing to people about jazz fusion bands or curled up with a novel by her favourite author, Haruki Murakami. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
