During our Celebrity Apex cruise in late December 2022, we saw (and rode) the most advanced and comfortable (even luxurious) lifeboats/cruise ship launches we have ever seen. The sleeker version is the Palfinger MPC 49 lifeboat and holds an amazing 440 people (174 upper & 266 lower deck). The boxier lifeboat launch, The Palfinger CTL 57 (designed by Marc Lombard), is more comfortable with nice soft padded seats & air conditioning. It holds 132 people as a tender, and 223 persons as a lifeboat. See the inside of it as we rode it in a relaxing tender ride to and from George Town, Grand Cayman. Later, seen from our Celebrity Apex Infinity Verandah stateroom (stateroom cabin number 8282), the lifeboat davit lifts pull the lifeboats back onto the ship. You'll also hear the captain blast the Celebrity Apex's ship horn as we prepared to leave the Cayman Islands from the Magic Carpet platform which doubles as a dock on deck 1. You'll then see the these high-tech lifeboats from the promenade deck outside area of the Celebrity Apex, including a crew member refueling one of them.
