Recitativo and Scherzo Caprice. Soloist: Richard Biaggini Composer: Frizt Kreisler June 26th 2018/ Santiago of Chile - Municipal Theater. ABOUT MAESTRO BIAGGINI Richard Biaggini studies began within the “El Sistema” music foundation in Venezuela. By age 16, his talent and effort earned him the honor of playing in El Sistema's highest level orchestra as their youngest member. In 1997 he received an invitation to continue his violin studies in Pittsburgh, USA. Two years later he entered the prestigious Artist Diploma Program at Indiana University where he studied under violinist Yuval Yaron (himself the winner of the International Sibelius Violin Competition). Biaggini's studies in Indiana brought him into contact with the Franco-Belgian school of violin. Taking inspiration from Josef Gingold, choose his goals: becoming a concertmaster and master teacher. After Indiana, he joined the University of California Santa Barbara as the first Violinist of the Young Artist String Quartet in residence at UCSB. The years 2006-2011 saw Biaggini's career take big steps forward. He performed chamber music, recitals and as concerto soloist in South America and Europe. He also received two prestigious teaching appointments during this time: the Latin America Academy of Venezuela invited him to serve Professor of Violin, so, full circle, he began working with youth orchestras and college conservatory students through El Sistema, teaching all levels, both in private lessons and in the classroom; then he joined the Mozarteum in Venezuela and to this day he maintains the position there of Distinguished Professor of Violin. From 2011-2015 he served as Concertmaster of the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia and then in 2015-2016 as Concertmaster of the El Paso Symphony Orchestra in the United States. Currently he plays Concertmaster of the Santiago Philharmonic of the Teatro Municipal of the Opera and Ballet House. He continues to perform actively. Recitals, chamber music, concerto solos and stints as guest concertmaster bring him to important stages around the world, especially in the United States, South America, and Europe. His refined sound keeps alive the “Golden Age” of the violin, not only in his own playing but that of his students.
