Well this was a fun flight! I'd only planned a short local to build some flight time before I depart on an extended holiday, but once I saw the cloud inversion over the mountains of Snowdonia in the distance I knew I had to go and explore. And I'm so glad I did. It was a hot day for the UK - over 30 degrees Celsius as I climbed onboard my gyro, which meant it's a rare opportunity to fly without a flying suit. Usually the altitude and wind chill mean a suit is required even on a warm day; but not today! Departing Sleap EGCV, my home base, we head west to the hills around Llangollen, just beginning to show their lovely purple and brown autumn colours, before continuing across the moor to the Llyn Brenig reservoir. From there I could see the peaks of Snowdonia piercing the cloud inversion, so continued west to investigate. Crossing the A5 north of Capel Curig, we head towards the shapely peaks of Tryfan and Glyder Fach, then cross the ridge to Glyder Fawr. From there we can see Snowdon across the Pass of Llanberis, and we fly over the mountain railway as the train approaches Clogwyn Station. We fly high above the steep slopes of Cwm Brwynog on the western side of Snowdon and over the Ranger Path, then over Cwm Clogwyn to join the Rhyd-Ddu as it crosses the Bwlch Main ridge. We continue anti-clockwise around the busy Snowdon summit, crossing the ridge between Snowdon and Y Lliwedd before overflying Glaslyn and Llyn LLydaw. Then it's over the Miners' and Pyg tracks to fly behind Crib Goch before returning across the Pass of Llanberis towards the Glyders. On the way home we have some fun very low over Alwen Reservoir before arriving back at Sleap. As I am going to be away for a few weeks I decided to fly three quick circuits to Sleap's runway 23 to maintain my passenger currency for when I return. A couple of apologies to finish. Firstly, I forgot to start the audio recording until almost back at Sleap, so enjoy the absence of my ramblings for most of the video. Secondly, there will be a break of a few weeks until I can next upload as I'm off on a (non-flying) trip with my wife. #gyrocopteruk #gyrocopter #gyroplane #autogyro #stuwithaview
