About the Author: Sydney Lehua Iaukea, PhD, is a Native Hawaiian educator, political scientist, and award-winning author. She has taught over 80 college courses, served as Hawaiian Studies program manager for the Hawai‘i Department of Education, and worked as a senior design specialist at Kamehameha Schools Hawai‘i.
