Dr Emma Hilton is a developmental biologist at the University of Manchester in the UK. She is also a director of the campaign group Sex Matters: an organisation which advocates and produces resources to promote clarity about sex in public policy, law and culture. She was among the first people, along with Fair Play For Women, to call out the International Olympic Committee on their lack of evidence for allowing transgender women into female sport, and published the first - and immensely popular - academic review of the science in this area. She collaborates with various governing bodies on transgender policy in sport, including World Rugby. 'Championing Our Sport' is the third event from Oxford Feminist Union's 'Amplifying Women' series: a platform for women's voices to be heard on today's most important issues. This event explores the material effects of current transgender policies for inclusion that have led to male advantage being permitted in female sports categories.
