Good afternoon, and welcome to another interview here on the channel. Today we have a special episode, as we are joined by our first poet & philosopher on the show. As a philosopher and poet, Rex weaves works from philosophy and history into poetry. He has published poems and articles in online and print magazines, as well as selected writings exploring the role of language in poetry and philosophy. He is fond of continental philosophy, with a focus on Nietzsche and French post-structuralism. His essays and books number many—each of which weaves philosophy across disciplines, revealing that they, too, have philosophical foundations. Rex is currently a philosopher who works in metaphysics and epistemology, with occasional forays into aesthetics, ethics, and general philosophy. He has written and published a select number of essays, ranging from a defense of Derrida's philosophy to an examination of the virtues of Walter Kauffman. He studies the non-systematic philosophies that trace back to Goethe and Nietzsche. In contrast, his philosophy is intentionally fragmented to suggest that the state of life and philosophy is not a monolithic, singular event but a process of change. In that sense, he is an anti-foundationalist at heart and, at times, can appear close to figures such as Richard Rorty.
