Meet Rhys and Helen | Beaumont College Work Placement at Rebuild

In this uplifting video, we introduce you to Rhys, a student from Beaumont College Carlisle, and Helen, the Manager at Rebuild in Carlisle. Together, they share their experiences and the positive impact of Beaumont College’s work placement programme. Rhys's Story: "Hi, my name is Rhys, I'm a student at Beaumont College Carlisle. I work at Rebuild and I like it because the staff are funny. All this stuff you see here would just go to landfill, but people donate it. Really, I adore it here and find it fun. I do like anything really. A bit of moving pallets—well, not pallets, like floorboards and de-nailing them. In the container at the back, I am working on a bench. I volunteer here on my own time on a Saturday. I do much of the same stuff apart from work on the bench." Helen's Experience: "Hi, my name is Helen from the Rebuild site in Carlisle. We collect construction waste materials from building sites all over Carlisle and North Cumbria. This saves them all from going to landfill. So we've now got a shop area where the public can visit. Rhys has been supporting us for the last six months, and he started on Fridays coming with Beaumont College with enthusiasm and real vigour. It's really exciting when he comes; he's always got a chat and a word, and always something to tell us. He likes his cup of tea. Now he comes on Saturdays as well, which is really great for us. He helps us out by de-nailing, doing kindling, sorting shelves, and sorting boxes. It's really amazing to have him."
