2020 Presidential Candidate Michael E. Arth's documentary about ending the so-called "War on Drugs". Filmed from 2001-2019, the film documents how the thoroughly corrupt drug war has created a global criminal network, encouraged contempt for the law, degraded civil rights, abetted terrorists, and weakened the social structure. Created as a cynical campaign ploy by Richard Nixon in 1971 to scapegoat hippies and blacks, the War on Drugs has spread its tentacles of destruction all over the world. Thousands of former law enforcement officials are speaking out against the harm they participated in, and testify that none of its stated goals have been accomplished. It has ruined neighborhoods, cities, and countless lives. The drug war has spawned 1.4 million gang members in 33,000 gangs in the US alone, and caused the death of 150,000 people in Mexico, where severed heads literally roll in the streets. In the US it has cost upwards of $2 trillion over 50 years and created the highest incarceration rate in the world. Arth, along with ex-cons, a former drug enforcement agent and police chief, Noam Chomsky, working class folks, and homeless people all give their perspective. Calling it a "War on the Poor," Arth vows to do everything he can to end the War on Drugs.
