Continuing endodontic education using FullHD clinical cases vídeos. Now the goal is to show one technique for cast-post removal. It's a very simple technique. Any dentist can use this technique. Instrumental required: carbide dental drill (in this case transmittal) and a piezoelectric ultrasonic unity with a large US tip. Endodontic retreatment of a maxillary central incisor with a cast post. The post was removed applying piezoelectric ultrasonic vibrations. The first step: start wearing down the cast-post to keep its coronal part with the same diameter of the intracanal part removing all cervical support. This first step provides an ideal transmission of the ultrasonic vibrations into the intracanal part of the post causing microruptures at the cement. Only after this first step the ultrasonic vibrations can be effectively transmited into the root canal. No video cuts during the ultrasonic vibration, this is the real clinical time dispensed for the cast-post dislocation. This technique is very safe because no tractional forces are required. The use of this technique can dramatically decrease the risk of dental root fracture. Due to the straight root and the large canal cross section, the root canal retreatment was done using the "classic" cleaning and shaping using manual files, largo drills. Enjoy.
